Again a fruit in the Rosaceae family,
belonging to the Prunus persica botanical genus, it is rich in vitamins
A, PP, and in potassium.
The peach tree
 The
peach tree is small with long, dentate leaves. It is closely related
to the almond tree.
The fruit
Peach trees originated in China. Confucius mentions them in one
of his books in the 1st century BC and they are found on engravings
dating back to the 10th century BC.
The Chinese still have many different varieties.
 In
France, in 1695, Girardot introduced peach growing on espaliers
in front of a white wall that reflected the heat. Several hundred
varieties are today listed :
- Pavie, with yellow flesh
- Amsden, with white flesh
- Grosse Mignonne, with its fragrant
fruit
- Early Hale
- Reine des Vergers
- Téton de Vénus
- Redwin
- Wild or Vine Peach
Did you know ?
Peach trees should not be planted near almond trees since these
species can hybridise and produce bitter almonds.
Cherry Rocher selects several of these
Peach varieties and, in particular, the Vine Peach, seeking those
with the strongest fragrances.
